When I passed the pier at Portage Lakefront Park at dawn there were over a dozen anglers fishing. That many on a weekday means there are Skamanias in the area.  I did look at the temperature in the lake nearshore - 62 degrees and if I'd have had any of my Skamania lures and tackle on board, I'd have stopped to make a few passes there and by the NW corner of the port.  My point is don't overlook this time of the summer. Some of my best days of nearshore steelhead fishing have come in these "pre-season" (meaning late June/early July) excursions.
