I’m thinking of heading down from GR to either St Joe or New Buffalo possibly next weekend but for sure the weekend of the 22nd (weather permitting). I’ll post a report if I go. Has anyone on here been out yet? Are the launches open?

Launches are open in both ports but there's been ice at rivermouths and pierheads so not many been out. Ditto for Michigan City.  Portage and East Chicago have been getting boats out

I would imagine by next weekend and probably the 22nd it may be gone given the weather. But good to check out pier cams first

I was at New Buffalo Sunday evening 3/9. No ice at the ramps but water extremely low. The wooden docks haven't been pushed in yet, and its a big drop from the concrete docks to the water. Lots of ice out front still. Looks like Portage is the best option for the conditions right now.

This morning New Buffalo had maybe 50 yards of ice floes at the pierheads. River itself was clear all the way to the mouth

I live here in st. Joe, and as others mentioned rivers are open but lake still had lots of ice as of Tuesday.

Forgot to add if you do come down here. BH boat launch is a pain right now there is construction going on and they are using the boat launch to park gear. Hope that is done as that lot already fills up.
