TOPIC:

Made a little shorter run this time, a mere 17 miles trolled to 25 miles out of Portage, and set up in 130' based on advise from a Wicked fisherman I know...Temps were better apparently than the day before as we found 47 - 50 degree water between 93' - 105' at the probe. Similar action to others with small kings hitting, or attempting to hit, corner riggers and wire divers with number 82 Deeper Divers at 1.5 setting between 300' - 350' out.  All action was between the depths of 150' to 160' with a lot of marks in the cold water band. Get to 149' or 161' and it shut off. Some variation of blue or green seemed to be the color of choice.  Ended up 8 for 14 on a 2-man spread with 2 mature kings and one laker. The mature hen wasn't as big as the others we have caught this year, maybe a 3 year old getting to the ripe old spawning age a little early.  Kings that made it to the boat were all of legal size which we could easily release without taking them out of the water.  The ones that we missed also seemed like small kings as well during the brief fight but I think its hard to get a magnum spoon/hook for enough in there to get a good hookset.  Just as well, they swum off to getting bigger for the next 2-3 years!  Those jacks were very proportionate as well, been late summers out there that were all head and skinny body so bodes well for the future!
