add 00 Fire dodgers with these type of flies. Maybe find some at fishing flea market Feb 26th Michigan City

Good thread, but remember the original topic was about ThinFish/ThinFins.  

Until the RTs came out in the middle 90s my top two plugs were the J9 Rapala and the smaller size Hot 'n Tot.  

The dodger flies certainly have a place and will take fish all season. However, early on, they don't out fish the little crankbaits. Mid April on they are studs.  

j-9s and up work well along with Thin fish/Thin fins

I usually start with red/ black squiggles  and firetiger.  If it's a two man crew I'll set out 3 and 3. If i have a third guy, I’ll also set it a pair of orange/gold J9's

Slez’s in Lake Station has a variety of colors in stock if you’re looking to expand your box.   However, if you were to acquire, say, ten thin fins, I’d recommend at least four or five should be red/black squiggles…I believe “red bengal” is the actual name.

Been searching the web for the red black sq., all kinds of places have thin fins but none carried that color,unless I was mistaken.
Found some brads in that color,guess I'll grab 3-4 to put with the 8-10 I already have in different colors.

The red/black color is Brads "thin fish".  "Thin fins" don't come in that color. What everyone is referring to is the thin fish, so you got it right





 

Anything orange seems to work on Coho. The Brad's thin fin red with black squiggles is probably the #1 most trolled lure in the south end. The Brads versions definitely track better than the older thin fins did . I am also fond of the Storm wiggle warts in solid florescent orange or chrome/orange colors. As long as it wiggles or rattles and is bright colored a coho will likely eat it!
