We left the mouth of the Ditch around 3 pm and ran thru the chop to the northeast of the Gong about a mile. While setting lines we picked up a coho in 56 fow on the 200 copper with 00 orange dodger with a green and gold tinsel fly. We trolled against the waves about 2.4 to 2.7 mph on gps. We should have circled after marking some bait there. Continued out to 69 fow with only one release on a dipsy with white pro chip dodger and white fly. Turned down wind back to where we began. Got back into the marks and back into the fish. We went 4 for 7 with 2 releases. 3 coho and my girl's first steelhead. Lost 2 coho near the back of the boat. The steelhead that got away was a real fighter. Screamed line, then jumped , pulled the church board under, came back up and jumped again. I have never seen this, but he actually pulled the swivel apart at the ball bearing! Made off with one of my favorite yellow and white J-11's too. . Over all a nice outing with the lake laying down nicely. Best area was 55-57 fow. Once we got back on them, I continued to figure 8. Pulled lines at 7pm and headed home to clean fish and have a cold beer. Ran 100 and 200 copper, 7 colors, 2 dipsys, 2 riggers with sliders, and a top line. The steely that came home with us hit a dipsy meat rig back 80 ft. As we were pulling lines.

That is why I like fishing up here. The fish are flipping acrobats and can spit hooks faster and further than Earl Campbell can spit his Skoal. I love the fighters.
