If your a fisherman that uses this site then you have heard about our coldwater hatcheries, Bodine and Mixsawbah, AND the need of a portable fish pump.
At our hatcheries, our fish get moved many times thru their life. After each move there is a percentage for young fish that suffer being moved by net and die. Here in Indiana we are the only ones still moving fish in this nature. Our hatcheries have asked the state for additional monies to buy a fish pump. The hatcheries were denied. Cost is approx. $35,000.
I'm excited to announce that Hoosier Coho Club has taken on the money raising for the fish pump. Figuring since the state said no, the fishermen would see the need and help as much as they possibly can. Please stay connected for the upcoming events to help raise additonal funds. Every little bit moves us closer to the goal. There are many that are already moving on this. If you made the spring fisheries meeting then you heard Harry Stevens and Carter Elenz talk about the need for the pump and the obvious protection of the young fish. It starts with the port vs port tournament. Don't care to fish tournaments but would love to help with a donation?
GREAT!!!!
