Hello, yesterday I  had my Lowrance Carbon 16 crash on me and appear to be dead. 
Today, after work, I was able to successfully restore it. I will post, in case it happens to anyone else :

 I applied power to the graph on a bench from a spare power cord and a 12v battery.  To my surprise it powered up but displayed update fail, retry. It was caught in a endless crash loop, soft and hard reset tried to no avail. Had to cut power to get it to shut off. I copied the latest update on a micro sd card and inserted into slot. Powered it back up an update was verified and applied.
Now i never tried to install an update in the first place but at least I revived my graph.

Just thought I'd post this in case something else runs into the same problem.
