DNR just deployed the freezer for tagged steelhead heads at Washington Park, and will be putting out the Portage one next week. 

If you catch a steelhead missing its adipose fin, follow the instructions on the freezer to fill out a data sheet, and place in a bag with the snout of the fish. The tags we extract from these fish will help optimize steelhead stockings - looking at relative survival by length at stocking, movement patterns, how old they are when they spawn, straying, etc

Whether you catch on the pier, on a boat, or in the stream you can still donate the head.
