Finally back in the water with a new to me boat. Actually, it’s now basically a new boat unfortunately. Anyway, headed straight north and set up before the state line. Fished 10 rods. Ended the day with 6 coho and 6 lakers. Fishing was pretty tough but slow steady. Blue seemed to be the color of the day. I think every rod took a fish. Best depth was 75-80 FOW.

Was stopped and inspected by the Coastguard. They were thorough and checked everything. All good on my end. DNR was also on the boat with the Coastguard. It pays to be doing everything right!!

Can’t wait for the tournament next week!

Thanks for the report. I had thought that was you just south of me who got checked by the DNR right before us, they were trolling east we were trolling west.  Guess it was a different boat.

Nice work on the fish!  Were you fishing when they stopped you?  How did that work?  Did you have to pull lines and stop fishing for them to board?  Just curious about that process.

Yes, we were fishing. Had to pull all lines and they tied up to me.

wow they made you pull lines!  I have been boarded a few times, they worked it in nice and never made me pull lines.  Thats kind of BS.

I was DNR questioned while I was pulling lines, no big deal. When they see my wife already wearing her PFD, it all goes easy. BEEP BEEP, the horn works too. No fishing questions just all safety.

I’ve never had a bad experience with them, but will say this. If they break anything while checking you, it’s on you. I’d highly recommend at least clearing a side of the boat. The coast guard is usually just one “professional” with a bunch of 18 and 20yo kids. Most of what they’re doing is letting the kids get  practice driving the boats.
