If I were you I would launch out of portage. I’ve been fishing Gary area making runs from East Chicago.

Its a crap shoot - Its about 6 miles from EC to Gary Light and about 8 Miles from Portage (plus the 20 minute idles troll to the mouth of the lake). I personally would go out of EC but depending on the winds. I also think EC is a good option for early coho fishing if the winds are too bad to make a run, you can fish the inland wall fairly easy and get some nice fish. That is my opinion as a fellow 17' boat but Angry has more experience and better fisherman than I am so take it for what its worth.

There’s more kings east of portage if that’s what he’s after. Coho to the west he’s would be in the middle of all the action.

Good to know Bill. I might have to change my plans for Wednesday if that is the case. I saw you got some nice kings the last few days, so figured they were around Gary too, but good intel; now I have to decide where I want to launch from.
