TOPIC:

Headed out of portage around 6am and headed east to troll. We had the whole gamut out today. Lead core, downrigger, and planner boards out. Ditch was around 49 degrees and the main lake was around 43 degrees. Our trolling speed was between 2.5 and 2.8mph. Burns harbor gave up 3 keeper coho and 1 shorty before 8am. We weren’t marking many fish at all. Plus the thick fog continually rolling through didn’t help boat control. GPS is such a important tool these days. Packed up and headed to gary light. Changed colors and added some spoons to the setup. Within an hour the spoons had 4 nice coho topside and the thin fins added another 2. We closed out our 2 man limit of coho on the downrigger with a perch colored spoon. Only big fish today was caught by my father-in-law on a downrigger w/ a blue spinner/fly setup. Weighed in around 8lbs and will live to tell about it. Tight lines!
