Headed out early today. Lines in the water by 6:15 and I ran my 3 rods with thin fins, hot’n’tots, and shad rap7’s. 50-70 foot back off the boards put a limit of bigger than average size coho in the box. I went 11/12 and had one triple hookup when I went through a nice pod of fish. That was interesting running the boat solo. The lake had areas of clearer water and the activity seemed to be better around them. Packed up the trolling gear and went jigging for a bit. First cast I caught a 4-5lb white fish. Then lost 2 big lakers before landing a 13.5 pound lake trout. The action slowed up and I called it a day. Trolling speed 2-2.5 but the waves made that difficult to maintain. Surface temp was 37 degrees and the ditch was around 48 degrees.

What kind of jigs do you use for lake trout?

1/2oz jigheads with white tubes and blade baits. With that eight you can feel the bottom pretty well even in rougher water
