Slow morning getting out of the launch. The trailer was froze to the boat. Found good action around the warm water discharges in the ditch. Finished up my limit a little before 9am. All keepers were over 16”. Plenty of shore fishermen and a handful of other boats trolling. I didn’t see many people catching today. The dnr checked me at the launch and all was good. The mouth of the ditch was packed in with lots of skim and chunk ice. Be careful if you venture out.

Shore fishing was slow yesterday, fished from 6:30-8 am, and only saw 2 fish caught, about 15 of us fishing the ditch and beach. Seems to have slowed down the last week.

Thanks for your reports and from others keeping us updated all winter. Just wondering if anyone is fishing and finding any fish at other "usual" spots such as at Gary Light, mouth of the Port of Indiana, Indiana Harbor Ship Canal, BP Discharge? Anyone launching at East Chicago and are the courtesy piers in at the ramps.

I don’t have a boat, but have been out twice in the last few weeks. Can say for certain that Gary light is the place to be, bigger fish stacked up right against the wall. 5 man limit last Sunday in about 35 mins, when we had only caught one trolling outside the ditch. Fish are much bigger over there, with some coho pushing 20.

Fished out of Portage this morning. Made a run down to the Gary Light but couldn't fish. It was all iced in. No chance of breaking thru with the boat. Ran back to the Ditch and caught some casting near the warm water dischages.
