TOPIC:

Finally got the boys in the boat Sunday morning out of East Chicago. Between sports and the weather it has been a bear getting on the water this year. It was a great morning to burn off some stress and we did just that! Kids rocked it today. Only had 1 fish come unbuttoned all morning. The topper was the younger brother put his personal best in the boat with a 18# 2oz king. It crushed a port side board dragging a 00 red dodger and blue peanut fly. It would be 15 minutes later and some throbbing forearms for my 11 yr old before we slide him in the net. Some damn big smiles and hollering followed and rightfully so! We finished up shortly after 8. It was steady action once we got past the hole in the wall with the last light area being the best. Lots of nets going down all morning. Tons of bait. Dodgers and peanut flies were the workhorses today for us with a 00 red dodger and green/gold/black peanut fly on a 3 color lead being the stud rod. I don't normally run lead in close however we couldn't keep that setup in the water yesterday so I as happy we brought it along. Riggers only accounted for a couple, struck out on the 1 dipsey we had out. Most all of our fish came in the 15' band of water give or take a couple feet.

Awesome! We got out in the afternoon and had to earn the fish we caught. Love getting kids out~
