TOPIC:

Steve, Bob, and I got out Thursdayto prefish. We wanted to see how the King action was west of Michigan City. We darted around from MI City to Gary and offshore as well. In shore we saw alot of bait, and alot of strong marks.

We ended up picking up 3 nice kings and lost a 4th. The big boy went 26.95 lbs on the HCC calibrated scale. We had him at just over 27. Hell of a fish bob got to fight. She was angry! We also picked up a few lake trout and a bunch of coho. The kings came on both spoons and rotators although spoons seemed better.

We felt fishing similar locations for the Pro Am could definitely pay off, especially if we were more targetted with our approach. Unfortunately it did not work out that way. The big north blow on friday scattered the bait, and the fish. During the tournament we ended up 1 for 3 on kings, and I dont believe any of those were of the large variety (over 20). We lost one a foot from the net to start the day.......ugh! We picked up a lake trout near shore and of course countless coho.

Hopefully we can pull some better luck for the Classic next week.

Looks like another year of big kings! That's a hell of a king for April.

Really good to see, instead of the yo-yoing between skinny fish years and big fish years that was going on a few years ago

If the weather cooperates, maybe we'll see a repeat of last year's Classic results
