Beat the crowd to the launch for our shake down trip for 2018. Got the boat we just before the crack of noon lol. Ran 4 yellow birds and two diver rods. After about an hour with no action on the diver rods, I pulled the divers and just put a couple wiggle warts down on flat lines. All birds were 25 back, 1/4oz on the outside 3/8 keels on the inside. Wiggle warts 35-50 back. Had our 10 coho by 3:30, released a nice steely to fight again and tossed back 1 ho pulling lines. Not fast and furious, but definitely good fishing. J-11’s in orange and fire tiger outfished the thin fish for us. Only ran a dodgers for about an hour. Water 36 and dirty. More fish for the marina to first light than out near the hole in the wall. Boat ran great, had a valve job and timing belt changed this winter, thanks Frank!

Nice catch glad all went well with the shake down trip. Glad to hear everyone seemed to do fairly well out there today.

Good first trip of the year.

I hate cooler shots and I don't much like Squirt. I'm a Diet Dr. Pepper guy. Good catch, though.

Thats because you haven't tried squirt and tequila. It is quit the palatable combo lol

I’m not a big fan of cooler shots either, but in terms of cooler shots I feel this was a pretty nice example.

1.I had the cooler tilted to catch the natural light.
2. The fish were bled out (note the ripped gills) and the cooler was drained so you can see the fish and not just a bloody fish poopy mess.
3. Finally, while some may not appreciate my beverage choice, the cans offer a perspective reference to judge the size of the fish.

I took the picture for my girlfriend. She is addicted to eating spring coho. She was getting worried that I hadn’t made any progress on stocking the freezer for this year. And since I put up post for the trip, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to post a pic. I’m making it a point to add pics for my posts this year since Jeff’s site makes it so easy. It was way to difficult yesterday managing the gear, fish, boat, and boat traffic to mess with action shots.

I always get caught up in the fishing and forget to take action shots. I get home and think......wow I didnt even take a dang picture.......so taking pictures is my 2018 resolution lol.

I agree, Southshore, as far as cooler shots go, it was towards the top.. Most of them look like a cross between roadkill and seagull poop. I'm not so sure about the Squirt and Tequila, however. Do you dip the rim of the can in salt to give it a Margy-Rita affect?
