Went out of the ditch and headed straight north to 75 FOW. I finally convinced my wife to join me along with a cousin that had never been out. Started setting rods and bam, daughter reeled in a coho from a 4 color with an orange j13. Got that line back out and started setting more lines. Another fish on. Double orange crush on a 6 color. That's when the good ended lol. When I grabbed the rod the fish was on, I hadn't locked the rigger onto the base. Yup, into the drink it went. Daughter finished boating the second fish and I turned around wondering why she did and not the wife or cousin.
I had been busy setting everything out and not paying attention. Cousin was hanging over the front of the bow chumming. Looked at the wife and she was several shades of green.
Needless to say, our day ended 2 for 2 - one down rigger.

Im sorry to hear about your rigger. That is a huge bummer. If it makes you feel any better my passenger seat broke yesterday too. The cast aluminum housing that mounts to the pedestal snapped off. It sucks we have to learn things the hard way. After inspection of the seat I found that the seat has a slide to adjust how close you are to the consul. Well mine was all the way back which would put astronomically more stress on the backside of the mount since the weight is no longer centered on the pedestal. Looks like I'm getting smooth moves before I planed to.
It's better to ask forgiveness than for permission.

What were the coordinates you lost that rigger at; may need to do some deep trolling  Sorry to hear about the lost but at least you got two fish in the boat. Dramamine is in the glove box of the boat just for those green moments.

I had one of those days last Saturday. Fishing was actually pretty good. I took the family out and we were in 95' of water North of MC. We caught a fish that slimed up the floor. Before we could clean up we got another on and it was on the top of the tree which is pretty high up. I'm 6'1 and need to stretch to get the rod out. Anyway I grabbed the rod and my feet both slipped out from under me and I landed ribs first on the gunnel. We caught the fish and it was sore the rest of the day. We ended up with 1 steel, 5 Coho and 2 trout that we released. We lost at least 5 as well. Since then it has been painful to breathe and really painful to sit up or roll over when sleeping. Ribs are black & blue on my left side big time. I lowered all of the rod holders on the trees and I don't wish that on anyone!!
