TOPIC:

got on the water around 6:15 this morning and the radio was busy with chatter of people hitting silvers. Dropped our first few lines and was surprised to have a Coho hit a thin fish on a planer being we were doing under 2 mph as we were setting lines (biggest fish of the day that made it to the box). Stayed out of most peoples way but still near a group of boats in a track that I have had really good luck in the past 2 years. the morning started pretty hot but little to show for it. Had a really nice Steelie perform for us and gave a wonderful show up until he managed to snap my 20lbs line and make off with one of my orange crush spoons. next had a little coho hit on a dodger/fly setup that I would have liked to thrown back and get a little bigger but he tore himself up to bad so he went in the box (he was about 16 inches). over the never few hours we had on and off action but lost a reallly really nice steelhead. He had my wire line screaming but in his running found his way around my downrigger line popped out of the water (I am pretty sure I heard him laughing and stick his tongue out at me) and broke loose. That was a fun 20 minutes untangling the lines. we ended up getting another pretty nice coho and a few smaller ones but still decent. We ended up 5 for 11 with some really nice fish not making it to the boat. Not a bad day and only down two spoons although the hottest combo today for us was dodger/fly (fly in posiden and a clear/blue). Trolling speed was around 3 for the most part and seemed to be the most successful. I know others did much better than we did but it was still a good day. We stayed out about 45 minutes too long and paid for that on the rough ride back after the winds started to blow.
