Was able to sneak out of work a bit early and get out of New Buffalo. Launched at 3 and headed out to 160 feet. Had a drive by on the first rod set, and then I'm setting the 3rd line and just about to clip the board on and a steelhead rips the line right out of my hand!

We circled around a few times picking away at them in 160, and then headed in some, and then found another school in 140.

Ended up 8-11, with 6 steelhead and 2 coho. All but one fish came on flatlines with thin fins. Red squiggle was best, followed by bengal tiger. Stomachs were full of stinkbugs. Steelhead were all cookie cutters (lost one real big one after it jumped) and the cohos were nice sized

Why do people love the bloody cooler shot? I think I'm missing out. I get pictures from many different angles but haven't focused on the bloody cooler. I may need to include the obligatory cooler shot in the future. ;)

Folks just love seeing a big pile of chrome!

My favorite pics are of just-landed fish while out on the water. With the angler holding them. Without blood dripping off the fish

I almost never do that with small fish though, so end up taking a cooler pic at the end of the day when fishing cohos. After all, if there's not a pic, it didn't happen, right?
