Finally made it out today after several years of working too much to be able to salmon fish seriously. Took a retired friend who had never been salmon fishing. Main purpose was to familiarize him with trolling and the equipment and to knock the dust off of my riggers and lures that haven't been wet in a long time. We didn't get out until about 10 am and fished till 4:30 or so. Straight out of the harbor to 50 -60 fow, then east around the barge into 25 fow. Had one release, felt small and shook the hook pretty quickly. Fish hit a DW Magnum Lemon Ice which the last time I caught a chinook was the hot bait...lol. That might tell ya the last time I trolled on the big lake. Tried several different spoons, plugs etc along with different depths and speeds. No other strikes. I did speak with a fella as I was heading in that said he had put 3 in the boat in 2 hours fishing north out of the harbor in 30-40 fow. So, for the first trip in several years and with a new partner, everything thing shook out okay. Was hoping to get this guy his first king but alas, there's a reason it's called fishing and not catching I guess. I'm gonna watch the weather the next couple of days and we're planning on heading back out early Friday morning. Not the report I was hoping to give but it is an honest one. Tight lines guys.

Hey, a day spent on the lake trolling beats a day spent anywhere else right!? I haven't been out in a few weeks and I'm really starting to get the itch. Planning on fishing Friday evening out of portage. Get a little pre fishing in for Saturday mornings tourney, can't wait!! Thanks for the report!!
