About 1 pm on Friday Bob calls me at work and says lets go fishing on Saturday as the weather should be okay. We can go on the Plane to Sea with Steve. How can I pass up a chance to ride in a real dream boat? So after my shift was over I went home and collected the trash for the county compactor and got ready to go. I left home at 4:30 and drove straight to Porter. Split told me of an inn there that is nice, Springhouse Inn. Not new but clean and friendly and importantly a safe place to have a boat and gear for those who travel like me.
We got started at 5 am and left with a pack of other boats and all seemed to head toward the beaches near Gary. Set lines and 10 minutes or so we our first fish , a large coho. I guess 5 or 6 pounds. We are thinking alright its game on. Well as it turns out we ain't got game and we commence to wash lures with the rest of the pack. Marked fish and bait but no more bites. We moved east of the ditch and had 4 more bites in the next 4 or so hours. Took another coho and a smaller steelhead and a very nice brown. Dodger/fly and different patterned spoons took the fish. Nothing worked twice as I remember. It was a tough day for us also. Bob took a nice pic of the fish for me.
Steve again I cannot thank you enough for the ride, I cannot get over his battlewagon. If ever a new moderator is needed for the site Steve would get my vote. He is knowledgeable and willing to teach and answer questions when asked. I know most of the guys up there are that way.

Nice fish Don - I had a similar on the line at about 4:45 AM but he got away due to error on my part. Was a nice day out there other than those dang biting flies.
