I never went looking last year but was wondering when would be a good time if year to start looking or are some of you guys already finding some thanks

Ground is probably a little too cold yet for northern Indiana but I'll bet they have started South of indy.

I try to wait til nights stay above freezing before I begin my searching. Dark south facing soil will have them popping sooner tho.
These are very camouflaged fungi early in the season so keep your eyes open!

We scoured the usual spots on our deer hunting property in Jasper County last Saturday and Sunday (4/28-4/29) and didn't find any. In general, not a whole lot was growing at all yet.

Usually when the first flowers of the dandelions go to seed (or crab apples trees in half shade blossom) and with rain is a good.
