Some comments about fishing Lake Erie. I stopped about 25 years ago fishing Lake Erie in March, April and May. To many windy days was not a lot of fun. 1993 we trailered the boat on Miller Boat Lines  to South Bass Island for a week. Had a blast. Did that every year except last year. Gave up the last 3 weeks of June too many Mayflies. Started going July 4 week then started the 1st Saturday after July 4. Weather is nice, a lot less mayflies and you have 5 or 6 days to fish and we almost limited out every day. We fished Canada waters. For the most part we trolled using spinner baits and worms and 3 ounce bottom bouncers off of large planer boards.  And sometimes downriggers about 60 feet back with worm harness.
12 years ago started 3 trips each 3 days with a charter who has 5 30 foot boats. 1 trip in March, 1 in early June and 1 in September for perch. After the first 2 trips we dropped March, no fun rough fishing. And eventually the September tripped
moved to October better perch fishing. I always try to book the charter 1st week of June. Most of the time the walleye bite is still going good in Ohio waters. Usually the 2nd week we are fishing Canada waters. Heading there June 3 for 3 days on a charter
