Got this letter in the mail today from Alumacraft. Some might know of it, I did not. I tried to photo copy it.

things change that one thing thats for sure Brunswick is buying up boat companies and has bought cabbalas as well
they no longer sell evinrude either
big box stores are taking over and this may be good for the new boat prices in most cases but the lack of good service after the sale makes the satisfaction of a great deal fade away quickly as service is needed

Thank goodness. I hate Cabelas service and their Marine department even more. AlumaCraft is a great company with great people who work for them it was a shame when Cabelas gave them a bad rap when consumers would associate AlumaCrafts integrity with Cabelas service. I take my boat over 2 hours away to be serviced before I would drive 40 minutes to Cabelas.

I did like the service manager at the Hammond store, it was the sales people that were my issue. They backed out of a deal on me. Cost them a new boat recently.

They tried to low ball me on my trade in.
I went 2 hrs south to Rockville and they gave me twice what they were trying to give me.
Monticello IN. I believe is Alumacraft dealer also.
Love my boat.

Tall Timbers in Monticello is who I use. The service Manager is actually who I've had the most problems with. He actually refused service to myself and AlumaCraft on a Warranty job because I didn't buy my boat from them. The Alumacraft rep called me back apologizing how rude they were there and could not believe they would do that to an AlumaCraft customer.

That probably explains why the service people were decent to me because I had bought a boat from them. But as Wallin was saying the sales team were bad news.

I never had an issue with Cabela's until after the service manager left and really it doesnt matter as they are no longer a Yamaha or Alumacraft dealer. I got my letter a couple of days ago and Fay's in LaPorte is my new dealer. Stinks since I was 5 minutes from Cabelas and an hour from Fays.

Good luck with Fays.
Terpstras in Griffith has a good reputation.
I know a few that had serious issues with Fays.
Thats all I'm saying..

I have heard the same about Terpstras also unfortunately and I saw something recently that the one good mechanic they had is gone now. Calumet Marine needs to become a Alumacraft/Yamaha dealer!!
