What is your favorite eating fish. King salmon, coho salmon, steelhead, or lake trout? Personally i like all of them cooked in different ways. Just wondered about the rest of you.

Me too. Lakers on the grill or in a fish boil are hard to beat. Coconut crusted cohos are terrific. Pan fried or deep fried steelhead using Fryin' Magic is damg good. Truthfully, lakers have their own flavor profile but the others - if cut to similarly sized thickness - are pretty well interchangeable.  In most recipes. I had some killer salmon loaf this week.  We often use a "shrimp n grits" recipe but sub in salmon.   

Thumbs up on the trout for me. The steelhead great anyway you make them and the Lakers are my new favorite smoked fish.

The spring coho are near the top for me. Most anyway you want to cook em. Next would be the canned we make out of the larger coho & smaller kings or steelheads. We do many different things with this, patties to dip.The larger ones I'll smoke. Now as far as the trout (lakers & browns) I'll pass. And if I'm being totally honest I have to say pan fish are number 1 for me. I always make time to fill the freezer with packs of crappies & bluegills. 

If I'm fishing Lake Michigan for food fish I'm Perch fishing. I have fanily and friends who like to eat Salmon so I give it to them. No one in my family likes the trout. Just being honest.

Thanks for the input guys. Have developed a real liking for grilled coho and smoked lake trout but would not turn down the kings for canning and steelhead for smoking. Have a great spring and be safe.

Bluegill!!!

Coho are great also.  Small Lake Trout are right there with Coho.  Perch and Walleye are wonderful but are second to Bluegill.

No GASPERGOO lovers?  On my first trip to Erie last year our camp "chef" cooked fish three nights and always chose the sheepheads.  Fried, fish tacos, poached with lemon/butter.....
