TOPIC:

Fished 8:30 to 2:30. Pretty much straight west of NB harbor. Trolled east and west all day over the same water that was holding some bait stacks. 55 to 70 fow with 65 being the most productive. Fish caught from the surface down to 30’. Couple on spoons but mostly D/F’s, with blue flies being the best color today. Ended with 9 coho and 1 steelhead. Great day out there!

Crossed paths with Pikesmith yesterday. He was heading in as I was headed out. He sent me a pm with some solid intel. I trolled the same area as he did and went 5 for 7 in short order. I kept 4 nice big Coho and released a smaller one at boatside. I also lost a huge steelhead that hit an orange dodger - blue fly down 24 ft. on a rigger  and took 545 ft. of line right across the surface. The fish never slowed down and just came unbuttoned. Really exciting and disappointing at same time but what a run !
 All of my hits came on the same blue fly and dodger combo down 24 ft. on a rigger. I might as well have only run the one pole. I even put another blue fly dodger combo down but nada. The fly that they liked so well is mangled beyond recognition but they still kept after it.
 Great night on the water, quit early and was home with fish cleaned and everything put away before dark.
Thanks again for the numbers Pikesmith - I also heard of fish being caught out in 85-90 ft. yesterday.

Anytime. Your reports have always helped me out. I think that was our Steelhead you hooked into.  We lost a massive one right at the back of the boat also. I would venture to say it was the biggest I’ve seen personally. 

What heading did you take out and what depth of water was your best?

Probably pretty close to a 260. 65 fow was best for me.
