Launched around 430 and took off north and just west of Portage to the tri-state area. Early morning was dead. After realizing my kicker wasnt pumping water I had to go to the main motor to troll and just couldn't get the speed below 3mph for the longest time. After remembering I had a massive drift sock aboard I was able to get down to 2.2-2.3 but still no bites. After a revamped spread of standard spoons vs the magnums I had out things really picked up. A nbk spoon on the swr was the first to go with a 9lb king, then a couple of small coho and lakers later a decent laker hit a 200 copper with a double sided glow spoon. Before I could get the picture the next rod went off and it was a 7lb steelhead on the 150 copper and a monkey puke spoon. As that picture was taken the 7.5 color leadcore fired off with the biggest fish of the day, a 17lb skamania on a proking spoon.

Nice catch. Hope no damage done to kicker other than needing a new impeller. Could just be blocked pee hole too. Good luck

I'm hoping it's a blockage issue and I just gotta blow it out. Fortunately I've got a backup kicker that's half the hp but still moves the boat so I'll be back on the water for Sunday.

"Back in the day" when I fished out of Waukegan Pro Kings were the only spoon I used and now I can't say I have run one in 15 years! Going to have to dig a little deeper....
