I was the first boat out his morning and it had me thinking I missed something on the weather report. I headed west into the 3 footers and slowly made my way to gary light. Setup along the steel wall just before the first gap. Lines in by 6:15 and over 15 nice size coho boated before 7am. Shad rap 7’s, 3 color LC with spoons, 5 color LC with j-plug, and the downrigger with spoons/j11 rapalas all produced. The bigger fish came from deeper water, 2-4 pound coho coughing up 5” alewives. Picked up a lake trout on the downrigger with a j11 @ 22’. Headed back east towards portage and picked up 2 more nice coho along the wall. Just past the big wall gap I changed out my rigger setup to a spoon. Within 5 minutes a king slammed the spoon and a 20 minute battle ensued. Awesome day on the water and I hope all the other boats out had good luck as well. Looked to be around 45 boats out fishing today. Water temps 47 degrees and trolling speed 2.5 to 2.8 mph.
