So it's my turn planned on heading off shore from portage at 4 am got up at 315 saw a Big storm coming at us held the trip off til 530 headed out then... planned on going off shore but cuz of lingering rain on the forecast thought about trolling at the mouth of the ditch. As I hit the mouth there was quite a few shore guys casting so I signaled one THUMBS UP OR DOWN. He signaled UP !!!! So I immediately dropped one rigger 10 ft set my second rigger 12 ft reeled in the slack line and it fired away with out biggest steelie of the day probably 12 lbs trolled one hour had three in the livewell so what do I do pick up and run off shore burnt 11/2 hrs with nothing to show for it ran back to the mouth perch fished little over an hour with 2 dinks to show for it so we opted to go back trolling what worked pretty much everything planner with 3/4 orange n white moonshine dipseys with watermelon and other one with green/orange spoon 2 riggers one set at 12/13 ft down with orange crush maybe that one caught 3 or four of the steelies other one had similar orange spoon down 14 took one as well all in all we went 11 for 11 on trolling...hooked and landed 8 steelies 1 20lb Shit head and 2 PERCH!!!!!!! Yup 2 perch one was 10" and one was 13 on standard spoons if I was to go back n perch fish id start in 25-30 fow we were in that general area when we found the perch stuck on the spoons lots of bait balls n lots of what I believe were perch on the screen.. thanks to everyone for sharing very helpful reports I hope someone can go n have as much fun as we did today
